Daniel 1:8  “But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods.” (NLT)

Living a lifestyle of a leader takes someone who is bold.

Growing up in the church, I was never in to drugs, drinking, sex, etc., but it wasn’t until the summer going into 9th grade where I truly gave my life to Christ. Plenty of times my family has looked at me different because I don’t do the same things they do, for example, drinking. There’s been so many times where I’ve wanted to just give up and take the easy route in life; do what everyone else is doing. But I knew that giving my life to Christ meant that I would have to choose to be set a part from the world to truly follow Him.

Daniel chose to be bold, along with his friends, and not eat Nebuchadnezzar’s food and drink the wine even though everyone else was. Just like Daniel, God is looking for young people like you who will be leaders instead of followers but sometimes we allow our fears to get in the way. Maybe recently you made that decision to follow Christ but you’re afraid of what your friends will think; ask God to give you the same confidence Daniel had. When making the decision to follow Christ, you’re saying that you will stand up for Christ by denying the things of this world. Today, be bold and be the leader you’re called to be!

Prayer:

Father, give me boldness to be the leader you’ve called me to be. I want to live a life that pleases you, reflecting Christ in every way.  When everyone else seems to be doing what is wrong, help me to be bold and do what is right.  Amen.
