Jesus is “In Control”

I loved the “Passion of the Christ”! Wow, what an awesome movie that was! In fact, one of my most favorite parts was the scene when Jesus stood right up after the 1st round of strikes with the “cat of nine tails” by the roman soldiers. Without uttering one word, a great and awesome statement was made in that moment. A statement that said to them loud and clear, “do whatever it is you got to do, but I will submit and embrace, the will of the Father, regardless of the situation”.

He actually voiced this to Pilate before the beating when he told him that “you would have no power over me if it were not given you from above”. John 19:11.

I personally can’t tell you how many times that I have fought against something when I had no business. Unfortunately, it is only now through hindsight that I could recall certain situations that I know that I was supposed to embrace. And that included the people that were used to bring about those things that caused me extreme pain and discomfort.

Things to keep in Mind

1.     Although God has given us the power of choice we have to remember there are going to be things beyond our control. {“All things works for the Good for those that believe”} Romans 8:28

2.     Do not take out frustrations on people that may be behind those situations. Romans 12:19 says “avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”.

3.     And because God keeps his word and will avenge us, it is very very important that we pray for those that have offended us. (Not only does this lift a spiritual burden off their shoulders but it fertilizes a ground of love and forgiveness in our hearts). Jesus demonstrated this by stating this on the cross “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. Luke 23:34
