“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
II Corinthians 9:15 NKJV
Observation: The gift Paul is referring to here is God's amazing grace. In the Merriam-Webster, Grace is defined as:
a : unmerited divine assistance given humans for their regeneration or sanctification b : a virtue coming from God
This gift, grace, is available to all who live devoted to Christ, and is sufficient for every believer's life! Looking at the context of this passage, Paul is encouraging cheerful givers to continue in giving to the needs all around us. The Lord loves cheerful givers because God Himself is one and has ability to make grace available to us for every good work. Paul's conclusion to this chapter speaks loud because I know there are seasons in our loves where we forget to say "thank you", not just verbally, in our hearts too.
Application: You may be in a time of your life right now where you feel bitter, alone, maybe things aren't going your way. One thing you need to never forget is that if you have faith in Jesus, this "indescribable gift" Paul speaks of is yours as well as any other believer. So you don't recognize it, huh? May I suggest that instead of looking around, you take a look into your heart, remove any blockage that take's your attention away from being thankful for grace shown to us. Once gratitude fills your mind you will notice a change of heart.
Prayer: Lord, humble me to recognize your grace and though it may not be evident at times, that it is ALWAYS sufficient for me. Soften my heart to give back as you have so generously given and fill my mouth with words of praise to you!
