We live in Freedom
Galatians 5:1 NIV
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
When you hear the word Freedom what comes to mind? Or who in your life displays a lifestyle of freedom? When you look around you what does freedom look like? And have you ever asked yourself, why do we fight for freedom? How is it that when we are free from something we want to return back to it? All these questions tied into one very powerful word Freedom.
See the apostle Paul writes to the Galatians people and reminds them of who they are and not to lose sight of what they believe in. In does days there were a lot of false teaching going on around them, about false gods and false doctrines. Many people were getting so caught up in these false doctrines that they were losing sight of what the true gospel is all about, the freedom we find in him. Jesus came to set us free from our sins, struggles and cultural influences. We have no need to fall back into the way of our old life that we were set free from. All it takes is to stand firm in his word, meditate on it day and night. Submit to him body, soul, mind and emotions. Allow the Holy Spirit to be you teacher and guide. And never forget that your identity is in him, not in the influences of this world. So next time you when you hear the word freedom think of the cross and how he gave his life for you. When your friends are pulling you into vain conversation and their lifestyle does not represent Jesus asked your is there freedom in this relationship and should I continue on. And when you want to give up because you don’t have the strength to fight anymore, remind yourself that Jesus never stops fighting for you. Lastly do not allow the lies of the enemy surround you and paint a perfect picture of your life in bandage. When I look back and I see how far he has brought me I can’t even begin to compare to what I thought was a good day without him. I thank God for the freedom I find in him.
Jesus I thank you for the price you paid on the cross. It’s because of your sacrifice that today I live in freedom. I ask you Holy Spirit to guard my heart, ears, eyes and thoughts. That I will not lose sight of the gospel and that I will hold on to you with all my heart, mind, soul and might. That I may be filled with boldness to share with others about this freedom that I get to experience every day for the rest of my life. In your beautiful name Jesus, amen.
