The Gospel Message
What is the Gospel Message? For many is simply, the death of Christ on the cross and the forgiveness of mankind. For others is the commandment that Jesus gave his disciples. And for some, is a story told about a man named Jesus who died on a cross and roused from the dead. If you were to ask yourself the question, “What is the Gospel Message” what do you think your response would be.
In the book of Galatians 2:20, Paul is writing to the Galatians and reminding them of the Gospel Message. See at some point they were so consumed with following the Law of Moses and pleasing all the religious leaders that they lost sight of what truly the gospel massage was all about. The day Jesus died on the cross the law was broken and we became free to live with him. Jesus death and resurrection is more than just a story or a command. The moment we made that confession of faith and believed and accepted Jesus as our savior, we then became crucified with him.
All of my sins, religious rituals, salved to the flesh and its desires and my old self became crucified. Jesus is the Gospel Message and that’s why it’s important we know who we are in him and the price he paid for us. Once we grasp this concept there is no condemnation but freedom to live a life that displays the message of the cross.
Today as you meditate on this scripture remember Jesus and who you are in him. You are free to live, sealed by the Holy Spirit and delivered by the cross.
Jesus I pray today that I will not lose sight of the cross and the price that was paid for me. That I will not become so focus in what’s around me and pleasing others. That I will never lose sight of who you are and who I am in you. Holy Spirit remind me continually of the cross and the freedom of the cross. In your name, Amen.
